The Golf Team Hits the Cape Winelands

We’ve all been incredibly busy (as usual!) in the Giltedge Golf & Safari offices, so it was time to take a little break. Which is exactly what we did one crisp autumn morning – when we shut down our laptops, piled into our waiting PG Tops vehicle and set out for a fun day in the Cape Winelands.

“It was fantastic to have our whole team out in the Winelands, enjoying the places and activities that our clients normally experience” – Adam

Adam Veysey on a day out with the golf team.

Ernie Els Winery

Our first stop was the Ernie Els Winery, where we had lunch. The place has a wonderful atmosphere out on the terrace with its vineyard-and-mountain views and fun chipping green. We’ll definitely have to go back and try again for that hole-in-one and free magnum of Ernie Els Signature wine.

Also worth a visit is the Trophy Room, which showcases some of Ernie’s finest golfing achievements including a replica of the Claret Jug.

Jordan Wine Safari

Next it was off to Jordan Wine Estate. Their winery and deli have a beautiful setting under shaded oak trees overlooking a dam – another excellent option for a relaxed lunch and wine experience.

Instead we’d opted for their wine safari, which is a must! An open Land Rover takes you out into the vineyards, surrounded by incredible views. It’s a great way to learn about Jordan’s wines, as you enjoy a few tastings out on the estate.

Lanzerac Hotel & Spa

The historic Lanzerac Hotel was severely damaged by last year’s devastating fire. We visited the property to check in on their refurbishments and wow … it’s unbelievable!

Accommodation is set to reopen on 1 July 2018, and the rooms all looked great. As part of the refurbishment their spa has been completely rebuilt, and the new healthy deli is a real foodie gem.

Oude Werf Hotel

Our last stop was Oude Werf, a classic town hotel right in the hub of Stellenbosch. Step out the front door and onto vibrant Church Street, close to art galleries, restaurants and cafes.

Oude Werf is a great base for exploring the town, and back at the hotel there’s a lovely pool area.
